Fae Ofa (Mother's Love) - Framed Original

$2,400.00

The original image of this mother humpback whale and calf was taken by underwater photographer Vanessa Mignon, who runs whale tours in Tonga. Vanessa provided the following information about the encounter she had with this mother and calf. “Humpback whales travel to the kingdom of Tonga every year to breed. During that time it is possible to swim with them under strict regulations. It's very important to be patient and respectful when approaching a mother and calf in order not to stress them. That day we saw a small blow and a tiny fin appearing at the surface every five minutes or so, an indication there was a calf. We got in the water from a distance and started swimming slowly, stopping every few meters so that they would get used to us. And they did. We got to spend over 1 hour with them. Very special moment. Here the mother and calf ascends together to the surface.”

I have named this piece Fae Ofa, which means Mother’s Love in Tongan.

This drawing was created with artist grade coloured pencils on drafting film. It has been framed with a grey timber frame and double matted with a outer off white mat and a thin dark grey inner mat board. The frame dimensions are mm 880mm (W) x 630mm (H) x 20mm (D).

Due to the cotton rag being warped in the bottom right hand corner, the price on this piece has been lowered. Please feel free to contact me if you would like further information on this.

**Please Note freight will be an additional cost which will be calculated once the delivery address is known.
