Weedy Seadragon - Fine Art Prints
The weedy seadragon or common seadragon is closely related to the seahorses and pipefish. Unlike seahorses however, the seadragons do not have a pouch for rearing the young or a prehensile tail for grasping. Weedy’s are generally red in body color with yellow/white and blue/purple markings. They are endemic to southern Australian temperate marine waters. The Seadragon is protected in New South Wales and Tasmanian waters. It is listed in the 1997 IUCN Red List but only in the DD (Data Deficient) category. The species is most threatened by over collecting for the aquarium fish trade.
This print has been created from an original coloured pencil drawing on pale blue cotton rag (2021). The original image of the weedy seadragon was captured by Tasha Waller at Waubs Bay in Bicheno, Tasmania (2021).
Prints are produced locally using the highest quality cotton rag or canvas with archival pigment inks with a fade resistant life of up to and exceeding 100 years.
The surface of the printed cotton rag is very delicate and will scuff easily if not handled carefully. It is recommended the prints are delivered to a professional framer.
The canvas is a textured, 380gsm Bright White canvas suitable for all canvas printing applications. The canvas prints are coated with a UV inhibitor for abrasion and fade resistance.
Allow 10-15 days for prints to be delivered and allow up to 4 weeks for stretched canvases. *Stretched canvases A2 and larger will have an additional postage cost due to their size. Tasha will contact you with the additional amount required once the delivery address is known and the postage has been calculated.
